MATCH Foundation Gets a Taste of Kwithu CBO

Fueled by the Segal Family Foundation’s focus on collaboration, a MATCH Foundation team journeyed to up North of Malawi to learn from Kwithu CBO, an inspiring organization whose mission is to transform the lives of vulnerable populations in Malawi living in extreme poverty and provide women and children with the opportunity to reach their full potential in an actively sustainable way. Hoping to replicate its success, the MATCH team delved into their Early Childhood Development (ECD) program and after-school activities. Endless discussion with Dr. Anna Msowoya-Keys solidified the power of collaboration and dedication. Kwithu CBO’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, evident in their projects, left a lasting impression on the MATCH Foundation team.

Kwithu CBO’s ECD program resonated deeply. Its success hinged on a unique approach where some families contributed labor for their children’s education, highlighting strong community involvement. Vulnerability assessments ensured the most needy received support, while a two-tiered fee structure addressed financial limitations. The after-school program’s focus on well-rounded development through extracurricular activities was another takeaway.

After a valuable exchange of ideas with Anna Msowoya Keys and John Keys , the MATCH Foundation team returned with renewed purpose. Collaboration, community engagement, education’s transformative power, and sustainable practices became key takeaways. Inspired by KWITHU CBO, the MATCH team recommitted to their mission of transforming youths through education and sports programs.
