Igniting Potential
August remains a special month for MATCH Foundation. The foundation proudly launched its new program center in Blantyre, creating new opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and shine through the power of sports and life skills mentoring. The event, held on 6th August, marked a milestone in the mission to nurture leaders through meaningful youth development.
The launch introduced the Play & Stay program at Zingwangwa Youth Centre, supporting sports initiatives in football, netball, basketball, and tennis. These programs are designed not only to foster athletic ability but also to show how sports can serve as a powerful tool for teaching essential life skills. From cultivating a positive mind-set to strengthening resilience, encouraging teamwork, building confidence, and sharpening employability skills, the program emphasizes the importance of utilising the whole child model.
A special acknowledgment goes to Susanne Crecelius from the Rotary Club of Aschaffenburg as well as Dr. Michael Bargl for coordinating the sports goods donation campaign, ensuring that every young athlete had access to quality sports gear and equipment.
The event was graced by the high level members from the Blantyre City Council such as the District Youth Officer, District Sports Officer, District Education Manager and the Head of Recreational Services. The community was also led by the Senior Chief Zingwangwa who gave a compelling speech motivating all youth in her community to be part of this program. Overall, the program launched with a total of 126 youth, 76 girls and 50 boys. Our aim is to at least reach 500 youth by July 2026.
