On the outskirts of Tadala abc Primary School, three acres of land now tell a powerful new story. Where there was once open ground, neat rows of maize stretch across the field — planted with intention, hope, and a long-term vision for the school’s children.
This is the beginning of the Lunch Meals Project — one of the most significant milestones in the school’s history.
The maize was planted with a clear goal: to support school lunch meals beginning the year 2026, ensuring learners receive nourishment that helps them stay focused, energized, and present in class. For many children, a guaranteed meal at school is more than food — it is dignity, stability, and the difference between attending class or staying home.
A teacher standing at the edge of the field reflected,
“When children know they will eat, they learn better. They stay.”
This project represents more than agricultural activity. It is a commitment to care — and a powerful example of how donor support translates directly into wellbeing and improved learning outcomes. From seed to harvest, every step is guided by the belief that education and nutrition must walk hand in hand.
As the maize grows, so does the promise of a school where no child has to learn on an empty stomach.
