In Malawi, majority of public schools are overcrowded with an average of 200 students to 1 teacher in a classroom. Our journey to construct a full primary school came about in order to change the narrative of public education in Malawi. Our vision to establish a school which will impact a child holistically was realized in 2023. MATCH Foundation takes pride in promoting access to quality education. In September 2023, the foundation with support from the Rotary Club of Aschaffenburg officially opened the Tadala abc Primary School west of the capital city of Lilongwe, Malawi. Located in the rural of Lilongwe west, it is one of a kind with a combination of exciting after-school activities. The school is fully furnished with desks, head teachers’ office, staff room, teachers’ guides and learners’ books. It is also powered by solar as well as provides clean drinking water to students and the communities around. With standard tennis courts on site, students enjoy their free tennis lessons every day. Currently, a total of 276 students receive quality education at Tadala abc Primary School. Our mission is to provide inclusive quality education for all students. The Tadala abc Primary School not only allows children to be students but it also gives them opportunities to explore in the field of work such as learning about farming and trees. Each student planted a tree and has the responsibility to see its growth and record any major changes in their tree journal. Older students receive one on one peer mentorship to pave way for great success. The school also offers reading tutoring for early grade students.

As a foundation, we have seen growth in the first year of our school. We have currently opened a temporary library to support the after school reading tutoring as well as to promote a reading culture to all students. Our goal is to construct a full library in the next 12 months. As we impart knowledge on these little ones we also hope to address the burning challenges of hunger through the feeding program.
