The most meaningful partnerships are not just about supporting the work. They involve MATCH Foundation Malawi, learning together and imagining what is possible next.

A visit is often measured by where people go and what they see. But at MATCH Foundation Malawi, the Segal Family Foundation’s visit sought a goal: space for honest conversations and shared learning. It also examined how investing in children and young people becomes action.

During the visit on 20 August 2026, the SFF team, represented by Program Officer Patrick Gwaza, engaged with programs team. They observed how community-based school programs are implemented. This visit sparked meaningful conversations. Behind every statistic, a learner gains confidence, an athlete finds possibility, a girl leads, or a young person builds skills. A mother acquires innovative income-generating skills, and a father supports building a secondary school. These stories bring the work to life, not just as projects but as opportunities. This aligns with MATCH Foundation Malawi.

The visit also created an opportunity for MATCH Foundation to reflect on its own journey. Learning visits challenge organizations to pause, listen and look at their work through another lens. The questions, observations and ideas exchanged during the engagement offered valuable perspectives on how MATCH can continue strengthening its programs, partnerships and approach to sustainable impact.

For MATCH Foundation, partnerships have always been about more than resources. They are about co-creating lasting impact and opportunities for children and youth to learn, lead and thrive. The Foundation’s broader experience demonstrates the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening programs and building sustainable systems.

As the visit came to an end, what remained was not simply a collection of photographs or program observations, but a shared sense of possibility. The strongest partnerships leave both sides with new questions, new ideas and renewed commitment. And sometimes, the most powerful thing a learning visit can do is remind us that lasting change is a journey we are all still learning how to make better.
