ACHINYAMATA OJAKA MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT
Achinyamata Ojaka which translates to wise youths, aims to provide psycho-social training to young people aged between 13 to 24. The project’s goal is to increase help-seeking behaviour among youths, foster a supportive environment, encouraging open conversations and reducing stigma surrounding mental health. The project tackles Malawi’s alarming mental health crisis, particularly among adolescents, with skyrocketing suicide rates, depression, and anxiety. Since January 2024, we have implemented the project in 8 secondary schools in Lilongwe, Malawi, empowering 1,702 students with knowledge to increase help-seeking behaviour and build mental resilience.
LEAN IN GIRLS PROJECT
Lean In Girls Project is a leadership program designed to empower girls aged 11-15 to become confident, resilient, and inclusive leaders. The program aims to challenge limiting stereotypes about what girls can achieve and inspire them to lead boldly in their own way. Through a combination of strength-building activities and discussions on important topics such as challenging stereotypes, reframing failure, and embracing risk-taking, the program helps participants to embrace their leadership potential and reject limiting stereotypes about what girls can’t do.
